A Guard by Knight
Chapter One: Part 1“What would she ever see in me...?”She stood with her back facing me, on one knee. She held her shield up high over her head as the leopard came crashing down upon her instead of me. With all her strength and a loud cry of triumph she trusts her shield forward and tosses the beast aside. “Stay back.” She said to me. She lunged towards the beast with her sword outright, her long flowing locks of blonde hair trailing behind her...
“A lowly mage, fragile and weak...”
As her blade came crashing down upon the beast its flesh was torn asunder, it cried out loudly in pain as it fell to the ground taking its last breath. A pool of blood began to form on the ground beneath her feet; she continued to stand guard, not giving up an inch of ground, stood as if she felt something else coming. Several more leopards appeared over the hillside in front of her, I counted six in total. She stood strong, holding her sword to the side calculating their movements. As the first leaped forward she side stepped, allowing her blade to get in the way of the attacking creature. It was killed by the force of its own charge, split in half though its length. The other leopards, realising her strength, switched tactics. They learned from their fallen kin. They began to surround her-circling slowly, closing in-trying to find weaknesses in her stance. There was none...
“I could barely defend myself...”
The leopards began to attack at close range; the first came directly for her sword arm. She quickly dropped her arm into position and thrust her blade down its throat, tossing its corpse aside. The second rushed at her shield arm, attempting to strike her back. She swung around with her shield, smacking against its head with all her strength, the beast was tossed into the trunk of a nearby tree. The remaining three leopards continued to circle her with intimidated steps, pondering their next attack. “I tire of this.” She said calmly. She let out a loud roar and all three beasts leaped into the air to attack her at one time; she swung her blade around in a circle. The beasts died before they could even reach her...
“She’s a Knight, protector of the innocent”She sighs deeply, surrounded by the bodies of her foes. “Are you okay?” She asked me. At the time I was too captivated by her beauty to even respond, my wounds couldn’t have really helped also. She glanced over her shoulder at me waiting for my response. “Yes...” I whispered. She nodded her head then turned towards me. Each step she took I found myself falling even further in love with her. Her soft complexion, sparkling green eyes, she was perfect...
“Loved by all....”As she reached me she smiled softly then placed her hand out to me. I stared up at her captivated, blushing at the chance to even touch her hand. I placed my hand in hers, she lift me to my feet. Her hand was soft, fragile, you would never have guessed by her hands that she was a deadly fighter. These hands seemed too innocent to have sleigh the foes which surrounded us. “I’m Joanne, Lady of the Shield. What’s your name?” She queried.
“I’m...Lily...” I replied.
“Especially...by me...”---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter One: Part 2Lily walks along side Joanne down the fenced dirt path which leads towards Alker Harbor.
“Thank you for saving me...” Lily says softly, she has a slightly childish voice which matches her shy personality. She’s about five foot two in height with a very fragile, slightly underweight appearance. She stumbles forwards a couple of times as she trips over the length of her white robe, struggling to keep at pace with Joanne.
“It’s really no problem; you should be more careful next time though.” Joanne answers in a calm voice. Despite her youth Joanne seemed to be a very mature, intelligent individual, clearly capable of taking care of herself. “Where do you come from?” she quarries.
“I don’t know...” Lily answers, stopping in her place. Joanne turns to her with a concerned look upon her face. “I woke up in a forest, I didn’t know who I was, or where I came from...” Lily finishes. Joanne walks back over to Lily, and then softy pats her back in a concerned manner.
“You said you didn’t remember who you were; you claim your name is Lily.” Joanne replies.
Lily nods her head softly and stares towards Alker. “The further I walked, the more I remembered... I was hoping, if I continued walking I would remember everything about who I am...then they attacked...” Lily said in a saddened tone, sniffling softly as she begins to cry. “I don’t know anything...I...” Lily legs start to falter; she collapses to her knees and begins crying. “I don’t know!!” She cries out. Joanne shocked takes a couple steps back at first, and then returns to Lily’s side. She bends down and wraps her arms around her softly, patting her back.
“Hey hey, calm down... I’ll take you to someone who could help you...” She answers in replies to Lily’s cries.
“Really...?” Lily asks, sniffling softly, she uses the sleeve from her robe to wipe away her own tears.
“You should really wear a paper bag Joanne” A mature feminine voice says from behind them. Joanne glances over Lily’s shoulder and sighs as she recognizes the individual behind Lily. Joanne stands while placing her hand upon the hilt of her sword. “Then maybe people wouldn’t cry when they see your face” she finishes.
“Hello Icy, It’s always a pleasure to see you again.” Joanne replies in a sarcastic tone, examining Icy. Icy is an average height for an elf, about five foot six, very soft features and an almost childish complexion. Her hair, blonde, seemed never cut; its length reached her knees. Her pointed ears revealed her elfish heritage; however, rumours had circulated that she was half human. At this time she wore heavy silver armour, which from the hips up seemed to be built more around revealing her athletic figure then protecting her from attacks.
“You should drop the sarcasm, I am your superior after all, Joanne. I could demote you...” She snaps her fingers. “Like that!” She finishes. Joanne bows down and pretends to grovel in fear.
“Oh, I am sorry my lady. I should be a little more careful with my tone.” Joanne answers, still in a sarcastic voice. Icy rolls her eyes then sighs softly.
“Whatever,” She barks, walking by Joanne, shoving her into the dirt as she walked by. “Open the gates!” She yells up to the guards ahead of her. The gates to Alker open as Icy walks through. She glances over her shoulder towards Joanne and smiles. “Don’t let the trash in.” she says to one of the guards, gesturing back at Joanne.
“I hate that selfish righteous elf...!” Joanne yells, standing quickly. She unsheathes her sword and cleaves it towards the gateway to Alker. The two guards noticing her attack leap out of the way as a white light suddenly appears from the tip of her sword and the gate to the city is torn in half. A couple of people on the other side stand in shock as the gates fall down. Everyone begins to stare outside towards Joanne who after her emotional display had a look of embarrassment upon her face. Icy placed her hand over her heart appearing a little shocked. She stares back towards the gates then smirks as she realized what had happened.
“Was that meant for me?” She quarried with a chuckle in her tone. She then turned back towards the city and began walking to the marketplace, without saying another word.

Chapter One: Part 3A little girl with shoulder length red hair stands in the middle of a lush field filled with healthy grasses and beautiful flowers. She smiled as the wind picked up and softly flowed through her hair, the same breeze also caused her knee length white dress to flutter softly in the wind. The sound of many birds flying overhead drew her attention to the skies; she giggled and spread out her arms while she ran through the fields imagining that she was also one of the birds gliding in the wind.
“Children, so carefree, to once again be in the mind of a child, I would give anything.” An elderly man muses while he watched the young girl’s mimicry. He’s late in his years yet continues to have a somewhat athletic build. His fragile appearance is most likely a ruse to hide his true strength from his foes. He’s dressed in a long white robe, wearing a silver plated breastplate for protection. A large sword is slung over his left shoulder; its length appears to be more than his height, while its weight appears to match his own. He smiled as he began to walk along a dirt path which would lead him to where the little girl had been playing. “Little one,” He yelled, the little girl glanced over her shoulder towards the man and smiled softly.
“Sir Knight?” She quarried, wondering what the older man could want from her. The man made his way up the path and smiled as he reached where she had been standing.
“I was wondering if you knew which direction I could find Nera?” He asked. The little girl stared up at him with a confused look upon her face. “It’s a very large castle, its length would tower compared to this field.” He finished. She shook her head softly.
“I’m sorry Sir Knight, I’ve never heard of such a place.” She replied, seeming saddened that she wasn’t able to aid him. He smiled then nodded his head.
“It’s alright little one,” He answers, placing his hand upon her head and ruffling it gently. As his hand was lift from her head he turned around and began to walk down the path he had came. The little girl suddenly realized she could help, chasing after the man.
“Sir Knight!” She exclaimed, catching up to him and grabbing his hand softly. The man stops and turns around, he got down to his knees so he was at eye level with her.
“Yes little one?”
“I can take you to my daddy; he’s a very wise man. He might be able to help you find your way!” She answers, smiling brightly as she felt very good about helping a Knight.
“Thank you, lead the way.”
The little girl runs ahead towards a large Hill, her arms outright once again mimicking the birds that had flown overhead earlier. The older man, taking his time slowly followed after her, amused by her childish games. A strange smell came in contact with the man’s nose as he glanced forward.
“Something’s wrong!” The little girl yelled. She stopped in place then pointed forward towards a large amount of thick black smoke billowing into the sky from the direction of her village. Having seen this before, the older man rushes up to the girl and places his hand on her shoulder, stopping her from progressing further. He glances down at the girl and sighs.
“Little one, stay here, I’ll scout ahead.” He says in a concerned tone. She stands in place as the man rushes ahead towards the village. As he climbs the large hill that separates them from being able to see the source of the smoke, he stands in awe at the pure destruction before him; nothing remained of the once flourishing village. He stepped back in horror, and then remembered the young girl behind him. He tried not to alert her to what had happened to her village in body language. He glances over his shoulder at her and sighs deeply, knowing she is the only survivor of her village.
“Sir Knight, what is it?” She yells to him. He slowly walks back down the hill towards her, as he reaches her, she already knows what he’s about to say. She breathes in deeply and releases slowly, trying to stand tall and brave.
“What is your name little one?” He questioned, placing his hands softly on her shoulder. She shakes her head and begins to cry, no longer able to hide her pain. She leaps into his arms and rests her head against his shoulder as she cries into his robe. He wraps his arms around her and holds her tightly. “Your name...?” He asks once more.
“I am no one,” She answers, staring towards the now darkened sky.
